#AHIPCX – What I Learned This Year

Howdy! Kate at Healthx back from AHIP’s annual Consumer Experience & Digital Health Forum in Nashville. Last time I told you all about what not to miss at AHIP but this time I’m going to share some of the best takeaways.

Look outside of traditional models utilized in healthcare and find inspiration anywhere creativity and innovation are improving the consumer experience. T-shirt bakery founder (no really, look it up), Johnny Cupcakes, shared how he has developed a cult-following by creating unique experiences, committing to a strong brand identity, and developing personal relationships with customers, partners, and vendors.

Talk to your members like people. They already rely on text reminders for oil changes, hair appointments, and school closings. They want to receive healthcare messaging and reminders via text too. Here is where Healthx and mPulse Mobile come in. We utilized our session to present case studies of real-world clients who have adopted text messaging to drive improved health outcomes and business efficiencies by engaging individuals with tailored and meaningful dialogue. And guess what, it’s fully integrated into the Healthx platform.

Nashville really is as fun as promised. Confession, I’m a vegetarian, so I steered clear of the hot chicken. But Hannah wasn’t lying about the mac-n-cheese at Peg Leg Porker. And spoiler alert, they call it Music City, USA for a reason. Tootsie’s World Famous Orchid Lounge, a honky-tonk with multiple floors, each with its own bar and stage, is where musicians looking for their big break belt out country, rock, and blues tunes. It’s loud, hot, and not the cleanest but a definite good time.

I came away fired up and inspired to engage members through innovative solutions that make the consumer experience easy and accessible. (Did you hear that echo? Mobile channel adoption…) And great news, if you missed this conference, we’ll be back in Nashville this June for AHIP’s Institute & Expo 2019.
